A number of metal bands, most notably Manowar, have sung about fighting for metal, and solidarity among metalheads. The trouble is, it's not obvious what would would constitute "fighting for metal". But for once, there is a clear-cut instance.

If they have any integrity at all, Manowar will intervene in this matter, probably by bursting into the headmaster's office wearing nothing but loincloths and slaying the headmaster with steel.
Seriously, I can't think of any reason why the boy can't have long hair. It would be okay if a girl had long hair. Of course, by that logic, it would be okay for the boy to wear a skirt. Come to think of it, why not? I'm going on record as supporting cross-dressing in schools. Actually, as a means of overthrowing outmoded gender stereotypes, I'm in favour of compulsory cross-dressing in schools.
